Aftercare

  • Leave the wrap on for at least an hour, no more than 24 hours

    • If Ink Beetle was applied, leave on for 2-5 hours.

    • If Second Skin was applied leave on for 2 days.

  • When you remove the bandage, gently wash your tattoo with unscented, antibacterial soap and warm water.

    • Pat dry with a clean paper towel and let your tattoo air dry.

  • Apply a thin layer of A&D ointment or Aquaphor 2-3 times a day for the first week.

  • Switch to an unscented, daily moisturizing lotion and continue applying it to your tattoo until it is healed.

While it’s healing do not:

  • Rebandage

  • Pick at or scratch it

  • Expose to direct sunlight

  • Soak it in water

  • Shave or wax the area

  • Wear tight fitting clothing

  • Go to the gym or sweat for the first 48 hours

Important things to know:

  • Tattoos take about 2-4 weeks to heal, depending on how big the piece is and your skin type.

  • During the scabbing phase, some ink may fall out if a scab comes off too soon.

    • Tattoos in high friction areas such as the hands, fingers, feet, etc., are more susceptible to ink fall out.

  • Tattoos fade with long sun exposure. It is advised to use SPF 50 during the summer to keep your tattoo lively.

  • Small, fine line tattoos will expand and thicken up over time.
